Artist Biography
KIRK(James F. Kirkham) I was born May 14, 1933. San Franciscan since 1937. Education: Thacher School; AB, Yale; JD, UC Berkeley. Trial lawyer. Former partner: Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro. Former member: American College of Trial Lawyers. Life-long weekend artist. Retired from the law fifteen years ago to pursue art full time. Trained a number of years at S.F. City College, and College of Marin. An extensive collection of my work was recently exhibited at the Bolinas Gallery in Bolinas, California, a town just north of San Francisco, with which I have had a long and active relationship for over 50 years. Artist Statement: In my work, I seek to evoke and question the human reality that lies beyond words, through figures that are evocative, archetypal and ambiguous.
